Xquisite (Xquisite, #1)
Chelsea Ryder will give anything to protect her father's artistic legacy. But when a charismatic European dealer with vague credentials offers her a priceless masterpiece, she is shocked to discover what he demands in return…

Chelsea Ryder's struggling Los Angeles art gallery gives her entrée to the city's glittering art scene. Her goal is to amass the lost works of her father, artist Marcus Ryder, who died when Chelsea was only a child. When she is introduced to Ricardo de los Santos at a party, she is both intrigued and unsettled by his smoldering gaze and bold pursuit. Despite his claim to be an international art authenticator, Chelsea can discover little about the gorgeous, intense man whose invitations seem more like demands.

When Ricardo proposes to trade one of her father's works for a night of his pleasure, Chelsea fears it will unleash traumatic memories that she keeps at bay by maintaining rigid control of all of her relationships. Instead, Ricardo takes her to sensual extremes where pleasure comes from relinquishing control and true freedom is found only through submission.

“In exchange for brokering the sale of this work to you, at a price that is well below its true value, I want you to spend a single night with me.”

This was an okay erotic romance, but I didn’t love it.

I didn’t really see what Chelsea saw in Ricardo in this story, when he first offered to sell her a painting at a knock-down price if she’d sleep with him, he came across as more cocky than anything, and not in a good way! When he then started to treat her like he owned her, instead of coming off as masterful and sexy, he came across as an ass-hole, and I really wasn’t impressed. Chelsea was also kind-of irritating with her insistence that a woman couldn’t possibly have more than one orgasm in a night. Sigh. I mean really?

The sex in this was very master/slave, and Chelsea seemed to be enjoying things, but I just didn’t get it. I didn’t think Ricardo was all that great at all. If anyone is interested there was bondage in this, back-door sex, and the use of butt plugs, I just didn’t really enjoy it, and for me this was very average.
