My Deliberate Mistake (Drowning #1) by Claire Svendsen

My Deliberate Mistake
Blurb (from Goodreads):
Drowning was supposed to fix everything. We were meant to die together. That's not what happened.

Ana Turner goes through shrinks like normal girls run through boyfriends. They'd probably be able to help her if she ever told them what was actually wrong. But hearing the voice of your dead twin isn't exactly a minor diagnosis, especially when all Julia wants is for Ana to join her at the bottom of a lake. Only this summer Ana's not listening. Win the college scholarship. Fall in love. Stay away from water. That's the plan.

Too bad Julia thinks the plan sucks. She doesn't want Ana to be happy. In fact she doesn't want Ana to have anything. Not puppy dog love from the cute cowboy Noah or forbidden sex with the sculpting tutor Mark. She wants payback for the mistake Ana made six years ago and this summer she'll kill to make sure she gets it.

***Due to sexual content, this book is recommended for mature readers***

My Deliberate Mistake by Claire Svendsen

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

My Deliberate Mistake(Source: I own a copy of this book.)
At the age of 12, Ana drove her mother’s car into a lake, killing her twin sister Julia – which was her aim. Unfortunately though Julia has been haunting her ever since, and it seems that she’ll never get any peace.
When Ana then falls in love, Julia finds a way to ruin it.
How can Ana get rid of Julia once and for all? Or will Julia get rid of her first?

This was an addictive story, and it was really difficult to know what was really going on!

I have to say that Ana was a bit of a mess; hearing the voice of her dead sister, seeing her dead sister’s ghost all the time, constantly having to take tablets and having sex with random people just to block her sister out. I mean, talk about a mess! At times I even wondered if she’d ever even had a sister and it was all in her head.

The storyline was good, and I liked the shocks and twists and turns. It was really difficult to know what was coming next as things just got weirder and more surprising.
There was some romance in this, and it actually turned into quite a naughty book in places. Apparently having a possible murderer on the loose makes people horny.
The ending to this was quite good, and we were even left with a bit of a cliff-hanger. I will be really interested to see where the story goes from here!
Overall; a good NA mystery/horror story,
7.5 out of 10
