Trapped by Michael Northrop

Trapped
Blurb (from Goodreads):
A chilling YA thriller from critically acclaimed author Michael Northrop.
The day the blizzard started, no one knew that it was going to keep snowing for a week. That for those in its path, it would become not just a matter of keeping warm, but of staying alive. . . .
Scotty and his friends Pete and Jason are among the last seven kids at their high school waiting to get picked up that day, and they soon realize that no one is coming for them. Still, it doesn't seem so bad to spend the night at school, especially when distractingly hot Krista and Julie are sleeping just down the hall. But then the power goes out, then the heat. The pipes freeze, and the roof shudders. As the days add up, the snow piles higher, and the empty halls grow colder and darker, the mounting pressure forces a devastating decision. . . .

Trapped(Source: I own a copy of this book.)
15-year-old Scotty makes the questionable decision to stay after school instead of going home when the school closes early because of a blizzard. Soon, Scotty and his friends are trapped in the school, along with 4 other kids, and the snow shows no signs of letting up.]How long will they be trapped? How deep will the snow get? And who isn’t going to make it?

I enjoyed this book, but the ending was a bit anti-climactic.

Scott was an okay character. He seemed like a fairly average teenage boy, and he seemed to spend an awful lot of time worrying about zits and girls rather than important things like having water to drink!

The storyline was pretty good, and I have to admit that I did get sucked into the story! I was so involved in this book that I kept looking out the window and wondering where the snow was!
I have to say that the mystery and intrigue was pretty good, and the line that Scott says at the beginning about not all of them making it also added to the excitement.

As we went through the book, tensions became higher, and I did keep wondering what was going to happen next. Unfortunately though, when we got to the end, although there were a couple of interesting moments, when we got to the very end, it was as if the author just stopped writing! I would have really liked a couple more chapters, or an epilogue, or just something to let us know what happened ultimately, but instead we got nothing, which was pretty frustrating! I’m now left with so many questions about whether they got rescued, and who had a family left to get back to, and whether the snow ever cleared! I’m annoyed!
Overall; a good book, but what happened to the ending?
7 out of 10.
