Bound by Night (MoonBound Clan Vampires, #1)
Blurb (from Goodreads):
The first installment in a sexy new paranormal romance series by Larissa Ione, author of the bestselling Demonica series!

Nicole Martin was only eight years old when the vampire slaves rose up in rebellion and killed her family. Now she devotes her life to finding a vaccine against vampirism, hoping to wipe out her memories—along with every bloodsucker on the planet. But there’s one thing she cannot destroy: her searing, undeniable attraction for the one man she should hate and fear the most . . .

A member of the renegade vampire MoonBound Clan, Riker is haunted by demons of his own. When he recognizes Nicole and remembers how her family enslaved his loved ones, his heart burns for vengeance. But when he kidnaps Nicole and holds her in a secret lair, his mortal enemy becomes his soul obsession, his greatest temptation, and, perhaps, his only salvation—a hot-blooded lover who could heal him with her touch . . . or bury him forever.

20 years ago, 8-year-old Nicole was attacked by a vampire and almost killed, and has since been living abroad. Now back, it’s up to her to take over the family business, but unfortunately this business involves capturing and neutering vampires to use as slaves – a practice that Nicole doesn’t agree with.

Riker lost his mate and their unborn child 20 years ago, and hasn’t had a real relationship since. When he crosses paths with Nicole, he begins to feel things that he hasn’t felt in a long time, and he wants her, even if he can’t admit it to himself.
Can Nicole make a difference in stopping the vampire slave trade? Can Riker have a relationship with someone new after what happened to Terese? And is Nicole really so against mating with a vampire?

This was an enjoyable paranormal/vampire erotic novel, but I felt like it was more about the sex than the romance.

Nicole was an okay character, and I liked that she tried to stick up for herself, even when the odds were stacked against her. I did find it a little odd how much she liked vampires after being attacked and almost killed by one, but well-done to her if she decided not to hold a grudge.

Riker was an okay character, although even when he tried to get emotional over Terese and her child it was a bit obvious that he hadn’t really felt all that much for her.

The storyline was okay, although we got the fairly standard vampire romance issues of not being able to get pregnant, and death in childbirth. There were some twists in the story that I didn’t see coming though, and the work that Nicole’s father had been doing in the lab was quite an interesting change.

The romance in this one was more of the erotic persuasion really, and while I thought that the ‘love’ scenes were well written, it was more an erotic story rather than a love story.
This story did remind me of similar books by Keri Arthur and Kelley Armstrong, but didn’t have enough love and romance to compare to J. R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood series, unfortunately.

The ending was okay, and fairly happy, if predictable, and we were then left with an epilogue which was nothing more than a teaser/cliff-hanger for the next book.
Overall; an okay vampire erotica story, but look elsewhere if you want love and romance.
