Blaze (Midnight Fire, #3) by Kaitlyn Davis

Blaze (Midnight Fire, #3)
Blurb (from Goodreads):
“Kira gulped, unable to stop the growing sense that everything in her world was about to change.”

With Aldrich’s note burning a hole in her pocket, Kira is off to England to finally reunite with her birth mother. But what begins as a dream quickly turns to a nightmare and Kira is left questioning everything she has ever known. Can she be the conduit Luke wants her to be? Can she be the rebel Tristan needs her to be? Or is she something else? Something no one, not even Aldrich, ever saw coming…

Blaze is the third book in the thrilling Midnight Fire Series. It is approximately 65,000 words.

Blaze by Kaitlyn Davis

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Blaze (Midnight Fire, #3)(Source: I received a digital copy of this book as a gift from the author. Thanks to Kaitlyn Davis!)
This is book 3 in the ‘Midnight Fire’ series, and kicks off a short time after the end of book 2 ‘Simmer’.
**Warning, some unavoidable spoilers for books 1 &2**
After the revelations at the end of book 2 ‘Simmer’, Kira is determined to follow Aldrich to England to see if he’s telling the truth and he really is holding her mother captive.
Unfortunately though, the only way Kira can make it to England is to leave Luke behind, something she finds really difficult to do, and something that nags at her and upsets her. Even though Luke is only a friend, losing him is something that she really couldn’t bear.

Arriving in England, Kira is hoping that Aldrich really does have her mother, and that she will finally see her in real life for the first time she can remember. Not all is as it seems though, and Kira is about to find out that nothing ever comes easy for her.
Does Aldrich really have Kira’s mother? Can Luke ever forgive her for ditching him? What developments will there be in Kira and Tristan’s relationship? And what surprises lie in store for Kira this time?

Well, Kaitlyn Davis really did ramp up the heat in this instalment, both romantically, and in terms of the escalating storyline!

Kira is focused on finding out if Aldrich really has her mother in this instalment, and she’s got the drive and determination to really go for what she wants, even though she knows that her actions may hurt Luke. I really liked how Kira was brave enough and bold enough to follow her desires to try and find her mother, no matter how small the possibility that she was still alive, but I also liked that Kira was human enough to feel guilt about how she deceived Luke, and to worry about whether their friendship would survive.

The love triangle continued in this book, even though Luke got left behind, and again I found it difficult to know who Kira should choose. I personally have decided who I think she should be with now having read ‘Blaze’, but with some major developments at the end of this book, it seriously still hangs in the balance as to who Kira will choose! I’ve picked a side though, and I’m going with Team Luke (strange because I don’t usually choose the underdog!).

I liked the storyline in this book, I liked how this book was about Kira following her heart, but how there were still developments in the overall storyline of the series. There was plenty of action at the end of this book, and I liked the twists that I really didn’t see coming! These developments are certainly going to make for a gripping end to the series!

Overall; a great paranormal YA, with a unique take on vampires, that continues to get better book by book!
7.5 out of 10.
