Marina in a Green Dress by Alan Davidson - Giveaway

Marina In A Green Dress Blurb (from Goodreads):
New to London, Jessica Tye is alarmingly obsessed with MARINA, a lush West End stage musical. With its storyline, its music -- and its sensational boy lead singer, Kennedy Orr, who won a TV talent show to land the role. She's often composed letters to him, in her head. When she finally puts pen to paper, it's for an emotional outpouring only, not for posting......until, surprisingly, her dull boy friend decides to teach her a lesson and mails it.
He's not to know that Jessica's letter will spark off amazing and unsettling events.....because Kennedy Orr has some obsessions of his own.

17-year-old Jessica is living in London, working a job that she hates, has a boyfriend who can’t spend an hour away from his beloved TV, and is desperately trying to do A-levels through evening classes, even though her parents forced her to finish school after her GCSE’s.
London is not fun for Jessica, the only thing she really loves is a musical – ‘Marina’, and just once she decides to open up about her feelings to Kennedy Orr – the male lead in ‘Marina’.
Jessica never intends for Kennedy to read her letter, but her boyfriend calls her bluff and posts it anyway, and nobody is more surprised than Jessica when Kennedy actually turns up at the meeting she requested.
Things become even stranger though when Kennedy keeps calling Jessica, and even asks her to move into a house that he owns for minimal rent.
What does Kennedy want? Why is he helping Jessica for no obvious reason? Why do his actions strangely mirror those in the musical ‘Marina’? And what happened to the girl who lived in Jessica’s house before her?

This was an interesting little mystery novel, with plenty of intrigue as to what was really going on, and whether or not Kennedy posed a threat to Jessica.
Jessica was quite a trusting, na├»ve girl, who never even considered for a moment that this strange situation which followed the story of the musical might end the same way as the musical – with the heroines death, and blithely went along with Kennedys plans. She even ignored her boyfriend when he brought up how strange the whole thing was, and very quickly got over her own nervousness around Kennedy.
There wasn’t a whole lot of music or romance in this book, it was mainly concerned with the mystery aspect, and the journey that Jessica went on with Kennedy.
Overall; an interesting little mystery novel.
6 out of 10.

  3. This sounds like a good and creepy read!

  4. I prefer the 2nd cover but the writings on the 1st one :)

    1. The 2nd cover seemed more appealing, mysterious and really conveyed the "green" dress in it. :) I liked the simplicity :D
