September New Release Giveaway Hop - Blood Twist by Bonnie Erina Wheeler

 Blurb (from Goodreads):

From Bonnie Erina Wheeler, the author who brought you Fate Fixed, comes the second installment in the Erris Coven Series, Blood Twist.

Find out what happens to the Erris Coven when Lexie's BFF Liz comes to town.

Braden Murphy knew he was going to die. There was a twist to his family secret – one that was forced upon him from the time he was a child. For years he envisioned his final days and tried to be strong enough to leave his family. Now that it was time, he was ready to make good on a deadly promise. Except for one unexpected glitch, a raven haired beauty insisted on joining him.

Liz Sanders thought her best friend’s stepfamily was weird, but she never would have guessed they were werewolves. Now Liz must travel with a secretive half-vampire in search of a lycanthropy cure. Landing in a nest full of blood thirsty vampires wasn’t on the agenda, but neither was falling in love.

Braden is tempting, but Liz’s feelings for him are complicated. She wishes he would open up about his past and give her a reason to trust him.

Just when Liz thinks she can let her guard down, she’s forced to confront the evil that has been stalking Braden’s past for years. Death is here and ready to destroy everything they've fought to save.

Blood Twist by Bonnie Erina Wheeler

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Blood Twist (Erris Coven, # 2)(I received a digital copy of this book for free on a read-to-review basis. Thanks to the lovely Bonnie Erina Wheeler.)
This is the second book in the ‘Erris Coven’ series, and kicks off where the first book ‘Fate Fixed’ left off. This book is told from the point of view of Liz – Lexie’s best friend.
Liz has come up to Erris Coven to check on Lexie who has been uncontactable, only to find herself in the middle of the mess that happened at the end of book 1. (Don’t want to give away any spoilers)
Now Lexie’s mom Ruby is seriously ill, and Liz and Bradon set out in search of a cure. What will the cure cost them though? And are Liz and Bradon’s feelings for each other purely platonic?

This book was a little awkward at the beginning as the events of the previous book were retold, but soon found its feet and kicked off another tale of love, soulmates, and plenty of paranormal creatures.
Liz and Bradon didn’t dream of each other the way Lexie and Torin did, but the attraction was there, and slowly drew them together. Their relationship was sweet and new and innocent, and I couldn’t wait for them to get together.
The storyline revolved around Liz and Bradon’s trip to Canada to visit a contact who claimed to have a cure for Ruby’s illness, as well as their budding feelings for one another, and also gave us some insight into Bradon’s family and background.
We found out a little more about Lexie’s sister Ella in this book, who is 13, and very upset over both her fathers death, and Nicholai’s disappearance. I’m wondering if the next book ‘Soul Kissed’ will tell us more about Ella and Nicholai, which will be interesting as Nicholai is a werewolf rather than a dhampire.

Overall; a sweet YA paranormal romance.
7 out of 10.

Author Interview - Bonnie Erina Wheeler!

When did you start writing?
Other than a poem or two and writing in my journal, Fate Fixed is the first thing  began writing in early 2011.

What was your inspiration for The ‘Erris Coven’ series?
Well, my daughter, who was fourteen at the time, became seriously ill and was hospitalized for a good part of 2010 and 2011. I stayed with her during that time. At one point, she became so seriously ill that she could not bear any sounds or interactions – tv, music, conversation, visits. With so much time on my hands while sitting in silence, I began to think about what I could do for her. She always loved vampires and was a huge reader of paranormal fiction, so I decided to create a fictional world she would love. That is how the Erris Coven series evolved. I sat at her bedside while she slept and wrote the first novel. Instantly I knew that each of the damphyrs would have their own novel and a few extra stories about some of the others as well.

What three words would you use to best describe The ‘Erris Coven’ series?
Spooky, edgy, romantic.

What are your favourite things about the characters – Lexie, Torin, Liz, and Braden?
I think my favorite thing would be that they are the kind of people I would hang out with. They love their families and each other. They like music, books and art. They are fiercely loyal and fight for what they believe in.

How do you think you would react if you found out that your other half was actually a dhampire?
I would love it! True love that lasts forever is what I dream about.  I’m lucky, I found my hubby when we were young and have been together for 18 years.  In that time, we have seen so many couples split up after the first waves of attraction die down. I think that is something that definitely influenced my creation of the soul binding process that created the fate-partners. Long lasting true love is beautiful.

How many books can we look forward to in this series?
At this time, I am planning  6 full length novels and a Christmas novella for the series. Each of the cousins have their own special "love story" - but I want my readers to experience another Torin and Lexie story again before the series ends.
Can you t ell us what you’re working on at the moment?
At the moment I am working on book 3, Soul Kissed.  Some of the questions left hanging from book 1 and 2 will be answered in book 3. Werewolves are still a concern for the coven and a new threat emerges that is tied in to the Irish history of the elders.

Other than your own, what are your favourite books?
I read a lot! I am a huge Janet Fitch fan, author of  White Oleander and Paint it Black.  I also like Christopher Pike’s Thirst series. For indie authors, I have all of Shelly Crane’s novels and love those. Plus, my daughter (the same one who inspired me to write!) just released her first novel, Something of a Kind at 16 years old which blew my mind. :)

Random Questions:

What’s your favourite treat?
My favorite treat is pumpkin spice coffee. It doesn’t matter which time of the year I get it, I love it so much.

What’s your Favourite place to read/write?
I have a tiny screened in porch. When the weather isn’t too hot or too cold, it is my favorite place to be.

If you won the lottery what would you most look forward to spending money on?
There is food bank in town that also collects Christmas gifts for children. I wish I could go in there with a tractor trailer truck f ull of toys and gift cards!

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I would love to get a little place in Ireland! Even though I’m a mixture of English, Irish, and Spanish – I have always longed to have a home there. :)
